This glacier, nestled in the rugged landscapes of North-Western British Columbia, Canada, stands as one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders I’ve ever encountered. My first visit was on a warm summer day, when I had the breathtaking experience of gazing down upon it, as if soaring through the sky like a bird. Truly incredible!
On the day this image was captured, however, the scene was far more dramatic. The sky was overcast, and the air had a cool chill to it. From our vantage point above the glacier, the view was completely obscured by dense clouds - an utter white-out. We waited for hours, hoping the sky would clear, but it never did. Reluctantly, we began our descent. As we made our way down, fleeting glimpses of the glacier occasionally broke through the clouds. Every so often, I would pull out my camera to capture those rare, elusive moments.
Great image Tom, it reminds me of a glacier I photographed on Baffin Island many years ago. Although the glacier is amazing, the trees at the bottom anchor the picture and add so much. 👏
